On Septeber 17, 2011 our beloved Coach Doug Washburn lost his battle after falling gravely ill six weeks prior. As a family we share in the sorrow felt by the Washburn family. Doug joined the S.E. Michigan Mercenaries coaching staff with best friends Nick Barron & Scott Schumacher in our first season and never waivered in his loyalty to the team the remainder of his days. He attended every practice and every game up until he fell ill. Most fans won't remember seeing Coach on the field as game days he spent in the booth, but he was as much a part of our family as any coach, player or owner. He continues to watch over us from up above and recently helped the Mercs get our new television coverage for season four. To our angel up above, you will always be missed by your second family!

WHY DO WE PAY?
The S.E. Michigan Mercenaries have partnered with the Macomb Cable Network to have all of our 2012 games broadcasted (pre-recorded) on Mt. Clemens Channels 5 Comcast, 10 Wow and 99 AT&T.

Semi-pro football players are not paid to play. They actually pay to participate. This is done because
semi-pro is utilized as another avenue for players to be scouted. Once any player is paid, the whole
team loses their eligibility. The S.E. Michigan Mercenaries will do everything possible to help you advance
in your football career; however, we can not promise that participation will result in offers for you to play at a
higher level.
On a side note: A half dozen of Mercenaries players have been scouted/recruited or tried out for paid
arena football teams and have made it.

There is a $30.00 non-refundable tryout fee for ALL PARTICIPANTS to participate in our tryouts. This
is a 1 time per season fee. So participants may attend as many combine dates for that $30.00 as they
wish to. The more exposure you have to our coaches, the better your odds of making the team.
Combine consists of the 40 yard dash, 225 bench press, L-cone drills, 20 yard shuttles and other misc.
drills. Then participants will branch off into areas of position and be drilled and evaluated on skill, speed,
participation, etc.
Dress appropriately! Shorts and a t-shirt are fine. Participants should WEAR TENNIS SHOES as this is an
indoor event; however BRING CLEATS ALSO. If the event the weather permits, we may perform the 40
and other drills outside, so come prepared.
There are only 55 slots on the roster. All 55 are open to tryout. All results are posted on our website by
designated dates
There is a $120 player participation fee for the season. This is in addition to the $30.00 tryout fee. No
one will be asked to pay a player fee until they have been awarded a roster slot. Player fees will be due
by April 15th.
Yes, this year we have determined a way for you to get your fees waived. If you recruit 10 NEW potential
players to tryout, they list you as their "recruiter" during registration and pay their tryout fee, we will waive your players fee AND refund your tryout fee should you make the team.
DUE TO LIABILITY ISSUES, MERCENARIES TRYOUTS WILL BE CLOSED TO SPECTATORS.
ONLY PARTICIPANTS WHO REGISTER AND OUR STAFF WILL BE ALLOWED INSIDE THE GYMNASIUM.
